Should Philippines join China against USA?

War grows out of the desire of the individual to gain advantage at the expense of his fellow man. ~Napoleon Hill

War, is the impending reality that grips Philippines if the tension in the Spratly islands escalate. As China continues to build its military infrastructures in the West Philippines Sea and the Philippines upgrade its navy with the help of United States, the area has now become a huge tinderbox, ready to ignite.
By 2020 China will be the biggest cross-border investors according to Forbes and by 2030  will  be at par with the United States in the number 1 spot as the world’s biggest economy. To make this happen, China needs to gain territory and natural resources to feed its ferocious economy and vast population. Therefore, China needs the South China Sea there’s no way around it. The area is rich in oil and natural gas. It is also a major trading route in Asia and Australia. Fortunately for small countries like Philippines and Vietnam the world we live in today is a world of laws and arbitrary agreements between nations. However, that won’t stop China from expanding; they know all too well that just like the League of Nations in the 1920’s, the UN doesn’t have an army and no government will commit their forces to meddle with the new super power.

With a bloated dollar and 18.5$ Trillion dollar debt the United States is gradually losing power. The United States can be compared to a powerful giant losing strength and China  a young dragon poised to challenge the mighty giant.

So should Philippines switch sides? Geographic wise, it’s a much smarter move, China is much closer and trade would be easier. On the other hand, the Filipinos love their American-like lifestyle. In fact, there’s a communist movement in the Philippines but they get little support from the Filipinos.

Philippines is an old colony of United States, and is the strongest ally in the region but with a crippled economy and growing number of enemies in the Middle East.. the Philippines will soon have to make the tough choice between rival China or longest ally America.
